“We see that the competition is growing as our partners, Russia and Kazakhstan, and Lithuania have set up similar parks, zones, and also started to offer preferential terms to investors. The decree that was adopted in Belarus five years ago is losing its relevance. So now we are looking for new approaches to improve the climate and offer more attractive terms,” Nikolai Snopkov noted. He added that a new document that will introduce changes is under development. It is expected to be ready by year-end 2015.

The government official believes that the construction of the subpark in the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone will provide further incentives to investors. “China Merchants Group has not come to Belarus empty-handed. It has brought its ‘2-2-3-4’ strategy where ‘2’ means two countries (Belarus and Lithuania), the second ‘2’ – two integrations (the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union), ‘3’ – the routes (land, sea and air), and ‘4’ – the unity of four elements in one place, the city of Minsk,” Nikolai Snopkov explained.

He added that the launch of the construction of the subpark is an important event that marks the beginning of the integration of integrations. “The Silk Road project welcomes the creation of cross-border free trade and economic zones. China Merchants Group and the future Belarus-Lithuania agreement will establish a free flow of commerce between the two countries and, accordingly, between the two integrations. In fact, this will be the first step towards the future of the Eurasian continent as a trading platform without borders and barriers to the common development,” Nikolai Snopkov said.
