MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) plans to implement a project to promote small and medium-sized enterprises and regions in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Sweden.
The issues were considered at a meeting between Belarus’ Ambassador to Sweden Dmitry Mironchik and Elsa Hastad, the aide of the director general, Director of the Department for Europe and Latin America, and Christina Danielsson, Head of the SIDA Department of Environment and Market Development and Eastern Europe.
It was suggested to explore the options for the integration of SIDA project activities with Belarus’ efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the National Human Rights Action Plan.
The Ambassador thanked the Agency for the projects implemented in Belarus to promote economic development, environmental protection, cooperation in the humanitarian field. Note was taken of SIDA’s participation in the rock fuel recycling project which was successfully implemented in Belarus under the auspices of the OSCE. The Agency is one of the largest Swedish institutional investors in Belarus.
Dmitry Mironchik and Elsa Hastad agreed that the Embassy and SIDA will continue the dialogue and the work on specific projects of mutual interest.
