CHENGDU, 13 October (BelTA) - The People's Government of Sichuan Province encourages Sichuan companies to become residents of the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone, head of the Eurasia department of the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province Peng Guanlun said at a meeting with journalists of Eurasian countries ahead of the 19th Congress of the Communist Party of China.
He stressed that the economic contacts between Sichuan Province and Belarus have been growing stronger. For example, Chengdu Xinzhu Silk Road Development is building a factory to assemble ultracapacitors for electric transport in the industrial park Great Stone. This project is very promising for both sides.
In February this year Belarus hosted Sichuan Vice Governor Liu Jie who among other matters discussed the completion of the construction of the Chinese plant in the industrial park Great Stone. At first the ultracapacitors will be sold in Belarus and then promoted to other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union. The main customer is Belkommunmash which produces electric buses, trolleybuses, trams.
Chengdu Xinzhu Silk Road Development is headquartered in Chengdu. It is not only the capital of Sichuan Province but also an important economic, trade, transport, financial and scientific center. The province has been actively implementing a new stage of development in western China, including within the Belt and Road initiative. The Chinese province has been recently leading among the 12 regions of western China in economic development.
The authorities of the province view cooperation with Belarus as an important element of the province’s further development. They see a big potential in developing cooperation in agriculture, tourism and education. Taking into account the well-established contacts with Gomel Oblast which delegations from Sichuan regularly visit, this Belarusian region will remain to be an important partner for China.
