MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – A delegation of the Shanghai Municipal Nuclear Power Office paid a visit to the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) to discuss cooperation prospects, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Energy Ministry.
The Chinese delegation led by Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Economic and Informatization Commission Wei Ping got familiar with the exposition of the BelNPP information center. Chinese representatives were shown around Ostrovets and also the training center of the plant.
Talks were held with heads of the structural subdivisions of the Belarusian nuclear power plant to discuss prospects of bilateral cooperation.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built using the Russian standard Generation III+ design AES-2006 near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2019, with the second one to go online in 2020.
