Serbia ready for allround cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – Serbian companies are interested in setting up joint ventures with Belarus, Secretary General of the Association of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Serbia Velibor Stevic told the media on 30 January, BelTA has learned.

Belarus and Serbia have been steadily developing cooperation. There are, however, areas where cooperation can be expanded further. These are agriculture, tourism, construction, education, science and many more. “You have excellent education programs and the Academy of Sciences, many good specialists. Let us exchange our students and the academic staff,” Velibor Stevic suggested. In his words, Serbia is ready for cooperation in any area that Belarus may offer.

Director of the Serbian company NIPS Persa Minjovic announced the plans to set up a joint venture with Belarusian partners. “We are engaged in the storage, import and export of wheat products and all types of flour with the subsequent possibility of producing bread and bakery products. We are interested in both raw materials and joint cooperation, joint investment,” said the head of the company.

It is still too early to talk where this enterprise can be set up. This issue has yet to be discussed. “However, given the fact that I own an enterprise with certain capacities, some 40km from Belgrade, there is an excellent opportunity to place it in Serbia,” said Persa Minjovic. She does not exclude the possibility to set up a subsidiary in Belarus.

On 30 January, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry played host to a meeting with representatives of Serbian business. The parties considered issues related to the Belarusian-Serbian trade and economic cooperation. Businessmen discussed the development of cooperation and the possibility of implementing joint projects in the areas of construction and building materials, telecommunications, automobile production, utilities, metallurgy, foundry, instrument making, chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries.
