MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – The second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been connected to the grid. The phased increase in the capacity of the reactor is in progress, BelTA learned from the Energy Ministry.
The second unit was connected to the grid on 10 July at 21:48. This happened as part of the pilot operation process after the successful completion of scheduled tests of the reactor cooling systems. Now its capacity is gradually increasing.
In the future, the second reactor will undergo dynamic tests at various power levels, during which the unit’s capacity will drop, including to a zero level. After that, experts will evaluate the state of equipment before its comprehensive testing at design capacity.
