MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) - Belarus plays a key role in the Belt and Road trade corridor, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq told reporters following the meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 20 August, BelTA learned.
"Due to its geographical location, Belarus plays a key role in the Belt and Road transnational trade corridor," the speaker said.
“I also congratulated Aleksandr Lukashenko on the accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and expressed my support,”
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq noted.
The speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is in Belarus on a visit on 19-22 August.
Belarus and Pakistan celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2024. In 2022-2024, the two countries demonstrated strong interstate contacts and similar approaches to solving a number of international issues.
