RZHEV, 16 April (BelTA) – Russia’s Rzhev District offers Belarus to intensify cooperation in agriculture, the head of the Rzhev District administration Valery Rumyantsev told BelTA during a press tour of Russian and Belarusian journalists The Battle of Moscow - Feat the Whole Country, BelTA has learned.
"Since Rzhev District specializes in agriculture we are primarily interested in cooperation in this sector. In terms of agricultural development Belarus is far ahead of us and we are well aware of it. But closer cooperation with Belarusian regions will enable us to catch up,” said Valery Rumyantsev.
He explained that Rzhev District has established twin-town relations with two Belarusian regions: Slutsk District of Minsk Oblast and Gorki District of Mogilev Oblast. “When we were commissioning a large pig-breeding complex, we drew on the Belarusian experience in the livestock industry. As regards Gorki District, it is home to the agriculture academy which trains highly skilled professionals, and we need such personnel. Therefore the experience of this educational institution will be very useful for us. We are also interested in the vertical management structure in the agriculture industry. We want to learn from the Belarusian experience in this matter, too,” he said.
Valery Rumyantsev noted that Rzhev District is interested in deliveries of Belarusian goods. According to him, Belarusian dairy products and textiles are particularly popular with residents of the district. However, there are dishonest dealers who sell counterfeit products as Belarusian-made. Here we must cooperate with Belarusian providers to prevent this," he said.
The press tour The Battle of Moscow - Feat of the Whole Country is held in Russia from 14 to 17 April. Journalists visit the places of military glory of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow, Moscow and Tver Oblasts. The event was organized by the Standing Committee of the Union State and Russia Today international news agency.
