MOSCOW, 16 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian Defense Ministry and the Russian Helicopters holding company signed a contract for twelve troop-carrying helicopters Mi-8MTV-5 in 2016-2017 at the international military and technical forum Army-2015 that opened near Moscow on 16 June, BelTA has learned.
“The Republic of Belarus is Russia’s important military and technical cooperation partner. The helicopters Mi-8MTV-5 will help the Belarus-Russia Union State increase its defense capacity and enhance the potential of its armed forces,” Russian Helicopters General Director Alexander Mikheyev said at the signing ceremony.
He pointed out that the large-scale contract became another step towards strengthening the friendship ties and business relations between the two countries.
Alexander Mikheyev said that the contract will be fulfilled in accordance with the Belarus-Russia agreement on the military and technical cooperation, which means that the helicopters will be supplied under the same conditions and with the same specifications as for the Russian Armed Forces.
