MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Russia believes that cooperation with Belarus in cancer treatment is promising, Dmitry Kostennikov, Official Secretary and Deputy Healthcare Minister of Russia, said at the meeting of the joint board of the Belarusian and Russian healthcare ministries on 4 October, BelTA has learned.
"The development of the oncological service is a priority for the Russian Healthcare Ministry and the entire Russian public health service. We attach great importance to cooperation with Belarus in this field as well as in other fields connected with healthcare and pharmaceutics," Dmitry Kostennikov said.
The official stressed the importance of such cooperation as he talked to journalists. In his opinion, the healthcare services should complement each other. It is necessary to exchange information, specialists and establish scientific and medical schools on the condition of mutual exchange.
Dmitry Kostennikov expressed confidence in the necessity to develop cancer care services. It is important to increase screening rates of such diseases in order to start timely treatment. It would be less traumatic for the patient and less costly for the government.
According to the deputy healthcare minister, the joint board will bolster ties between medical and scientific organizations of the two countries.
