MOGILEV, 14 November (BelTA) – By 2020 the Mogilev-based chemical fiber manufacturing company OAO Mogilevkhimvolokno will be completely remodeled. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions during the tour of the enterprise on 14 November, BelTA has learned.
The head of state said: “Today we’ve made up our minds: in 2020 it will be a completely new enterprise. We would like to finish modernizing the enterprise for the sake of making the products that will surely sell on the market.”
The President gave instructions to expedite the retooling process instead of postponing the deadlines. “Your competition doesn’t sleep. Those, who offer these products to the market first, will reap certain dividends. This is why we have decided to speed things up and complete the projects by 7 November 2020,” he said.
Alexander Lukashenko remarked that he knows the enterprise very well and had visited it many times. Mogilevkhimvolokno’s products will always sell well because they are required not only as part of industrial processes but for the sake of making apparel, furniture, and other products. “We inherited these giant enterprises from the USSR and we have allowed none of them to perish. We’ve been keeping them on their feet regardless of how hard it was. Their performance was satisfactory but then markets experienced a slump. But today the markets and manufacturers show some vigor,” said the Belarusian leader.
Speaking about Mogilevkhimvolokno’s development and modernization prospects, Alexander Lukashenko stressed that not a single employee can be fired. “We mustn’t wrong anyone. It’s all up to you. If you work well, if you are ready to operate the new equipment, just go ahead. I will be only glad if you do it. But you have to understand that sloppy workmanship, alcohol abuse, and lack of discipline will not be tolerated. Everything should be properly done according to manufacturing standards,” the head of state told the company’s employees.
According to the President, apart from the projects to set up facilities that will make new kinds of merchandise Mogilevkhimvolokno’s retooling has to include the creation of an entire production cycle able to make end products. The company is expected to use spare premises to make it happen. “It is a lot of investment in exchange for a great added value,” remarked Alexander Lukashenko. “This is why three stages are needed. You’ve already started working on the first stage. The second one will begin by 2020. The third one may begin tomorrow with the idea to create ready-made products in order to secure a larger added value instead of selling semi-finished products.”
During the tour of Mogilevkhimvolokno Alexander Lukashenko was informed about the company’s development prospects, its financial and economic performance, plans to implement projects with a view to making new promising kinds of merchandise. Plans to use Mogilevkhimvolokno’s spare manufacturing premises, which are abundant, were discussed in detail. The head of state gave a number of concrete instructions in this regard.
A program has been compiled to guide the development of Mogilevkhimvolokno on the basis of implementing an investment project to start making polyether products. Plans have been made to implement the project in two stages using the company’s proprietary resources as well as loans. Among other things the project’s accomplishment will satisfy the domestic demand for high-quality polyether continuous filament yarn.
