MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian startup Teslasuit has won a prestigious international industrial design award – Red Dot Award: Product Design 2019. Only innovative, out-of-the ordinary designs can win The Red Dot: Best of the Best award, representatives of the company told BelTA.
“Our goal was to find a balance between comfort and aesthetics, ergonomics and possibilities of practical implementation. Some Teslasuit technologies existed before, but never in the form a smart clothing solution. Developing smart clothes that provides an interface between the human body and the digital world is more challenging than just packing electronics within a rigid gadget. Enabling smooth, comfortable, and safe interaction between computers and the human body was an important goal and the greatest difficulty”, said Igor Buturlya, Head of Design at Teslasuit.
Teslasuit is a haptic suit for the entire body. It offers the world’s first interface between users and the digital environment. The technology allows transmitting touches in essence offering an additional communications channel and a new way to experience virtual reality on a deeper, captivating, and realistic level. Teslasuit will be used for gaming and entertainment, fitness and sport, recreation, and healthcare.
The product was officially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in Las Vegas. It won a Future Unicorn Award, an award for innovations in the area of virtual and augmented reality. The startup and technology news website TechCrunch described Teslasuit as the future of full-body haptic technology.
