MOSCOW, 15 December (BelTA) – The construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant proceeds exactly on schedule. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement after negotiations with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko in Moscow on 15 December, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Putin mentioned the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant as a most important Belarusian-Russian investment project. “The project proceeds exactly on schedule. The first power-generating unit is slated for commissioning in 2018, with the second one to go operational in 2020,” he noted.
According to the President of Russia, during the talks the sides agreed to pay more attention to hi-tech manufacturing cooperation, in particular, in the area of machine-tool production. Belarus and Russia will work together to promote joint R&D projects in the area of space industry, satellite navigation, and geological exploration.
