MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – The production of Belarusian equipment may be launched in Angola. This issue was discussed as one of the promising avenues of cooperation at the meeting of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola Georges Rebelo Chicoti on 26 June, BelTA has learned.
It was noted that after the aggravation of the economic situation in Angola against the backdrop of falling oil prices, the country has been committed to the diversification of the economy, including the development of the agricultural industry.
The parties are mulling over the possibility to set up an assembly plant for Belarusian equipment in Angola. First of all, this pertains to tractors. However, the Belarusian side invited partners to create a broader platform to assemble various kinds of equipment. In the future it is possible to deliver corresponding industrial products to other countries of the African continent.
Angola imports many foodstuffs, so it is also possible to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in this field.
In order to diversify the economy of Angola, it is also possible to develop the mining industry. Belarusian enterprises make various equipment which can be used, for example, for the production of diamonds. According to Angola, this equipment has a good price-quality ratio.
During the meeting Alexander Lukashenko also remarked that Angola is now developing such industries where Belarus can provide real support.
Belarus and Angola can also develop cooperation in the defense industry, construction of housing and social facilities. Belarus has accumulated enough experience in these fields.
