CHOLPON ATA, 25 August (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko has met with Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, BelTA has learned.
Roman Golovchenko said: “I am glad to meet with you here after our fruitful and constructive conversation during my stay in Baku in May 2022. It is very good that you’ve found an opportunity and time to come to Kyrgyzstan. I could not help but take advantage of this opportunity in order to discuss topical matters of bilateral cooperation.”
Ali Asadov remarked that Roman Golovchenko’s visit to Azerbaijan in May had contributed to the advancement of bilateral relations. He added: “I am convinced that this positive dynamics will continue. We have to work in order to make our bilateral relations in economy and politics even richer. I am convinced that concrete steps will be sketched out and they will meet interests of both economies in these complicated times.”
The heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union countries came to Kyrgyzstan to participate in an offline session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, which is due to take place in Cholpon Ata on 25-26 August.
In 2021 Belarus-Azerbaijan trade totaled $885.5 million, 1.9 times up from 2020. Belarus’ export amounted to $478 million, 2.5 times up. A foreign trade surplus of $70.5 million was secured.
In 2021 trade in services amounted to $23 million, 118.7% as against 2020. Export of Belarusian services totaled $17.1 million, 112.4% as against 2020. A foreign trade surplus of $11.3 million was secured.
Five proprietary distribution chain entities operate in Azerbaijan in addition to 45 dealerships representing over 50 Belarusian companies. A joint venture for assembling Belarusian tractors operates at premises of the industrial group Ganja Automobile Plant.
Azerbaijan’s trading house has been operating in Minsk since 2017. The trading house has been granted preferences for importing foods to Belarus.
