MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – A number of Polish transport and logistics companies are showing interest in the construction of logistics centers in Belarus, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov said at the 5th meeting of the Belarusian-Polish working group on trade and investment on 25 October. The working group is part of the Belarus-Polish joint commission on economic cooperation, BelTA has learned.
“Fifth sites for building logistics centers were chosen as part of the state program to develop a logistics system in Belarus. A number of Polish transport and logistics companies are showing interest in investing in the sector which, as I see it, is going to become an important link ensuring the passage and processing of cargoes going both in the eastern and western directions,” said Evgeny Shestakov.
The deputy minister drew attention to the fact that Belarus is the gateway to the attractive Eurasian economic space, and also an important strategic hub on the new Silk Road route. “Taking into account our mutual interests, we would like to invite Poland to strengthen the foundation of long-term cooperation in both economic and investment areas,” he said.
Among the promising sectors, the diplomat named transport and logistics, construction industry, and the processing of agricultural products.
