Polish business eyes woodworking, logistics, food production in Belarus

MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – In Belarus Polish business eyes woodworking, logistics and food production, business development manager with the Polish Investment & Trade Agency (PAIH) office in Minsk Sergei Semenov said as he spoke at a seminar to discuss business opportunities in Belarus hosted by the National Center for Marketing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“The main interest is woodworking, logistics and food production, i.e. Polish companies see Belarus as gateway to the EAEU market, including the Belarusian market,” Sergei Semenov said.

For example, the port of Gdansk shows interest in logistics projects. “It is considering Belarus as a platform for cooperation as part the Silk Road, interstate projects. The interest is also high among Polish carriers, big players,” Sergei Semenov said.

When asked about the business conditions for Polish companies, he noted that there are certain difficulties in any country. But there is dynamics in relations with Belarus, which gives grounds to hope for an increase in trade and mutual investments.

The Polish Investment & Trade Agency has 76 offices around the world. The main task is to help companies enter new markets. About 80% of applications to the Belarusian PAIH office relate to trade issues (search for partners, entry into retail networks, etc.).
