PM shares details of Belarus-Russia import substitution projects

GOMEL, 15 December (BelTA) – During his working trip to Gomel, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told journalists about Belarus-Russia import substitution projects, BelTA has learned.

The prime minister recalled that Gomselmash was one of the first to launch a project using Russia’s line of credit. At present 23 projects are in the works, there used to be 16. “RUB85 billion has been earmarked for them. RUB13 billion has already been transferred to recipients, including Gomselmash,” he said.

Work is underway on data sheets for new projects. “We tried to reduce the project implementation period as much as possible upon the instruction of the president. Thus, some projects will be delivered several months earlier and some other projects will be implemented 1.5-2 years ahead of the previous deadline. The funds are utilized in accordance with schedules, the work on projects is proceeding in line with the plans. There are no concerns about the utilization of this line of credit,” Roman Golovchenko emphasized.

According to the prime minister, the most important thing is to deliver everything in time, carry out the necessary procedures and reach design capacity. “Everyone, from the management of enterprises to the government, is interested in implementing the projects in the shortest possible time,” he emphasized.

The prime minister is visiting Gomel Oblast on 15 December. He has studied import substitution projects run by a number of companies, including  Alcopack, the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Prosthetic and Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center, as well as Gomel Casting and Normal Plant.
