MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) - Cuba has strong ties with all the countries of Latin America, so it can become a kind of a window into the region for Belarus, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz said as he met with activists of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Belarus-Cuba Society on 10 November, BelTA has learned.
“Cuba has established ties and cooperation with all the countries of Latin America, the Caribbean, so our country can become a window into this region for Belarus,” Manuel Marrero Cruz said.
The prime minister of Cuba also outlined promising areas of cooperation with Belarus. These areas include agriculture, biotechnology, and the production of medicines. “The governments of our countries agree that we have a significant potential for building up such cooperation. This requires, among other things, interaction between banking institutions,” he said.
He also mentioned tourism. According to the prime minister, more than 6,000 Belarusian tourists have visited Cuba this year. “Recently there has been a large meeting with representatives of travel agencies and tour operators. We are making significant efforts to organize a direct flight from Minsk to Havana. We are actively working on these issues, and hope that they will foster cooperation,” Manuel Marrero Cruz said.
