PM: Belarus’ economy is rebounding

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ economy is on track for growth, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told reporters following the extended meeting of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko with the Council of Ministers on 22 June, BelTA has learned.

As the prime minister put it, one of the objectives of the meeting was to see a bigger picture behind individual economic indicators. “We have presented the government’s assessment of the five-month performance and the feasibility of the tasks that we are facing,” he said.

“We can say that the tasks are being fulfilled. This was also acknowledged by the president who said at the end of the meeting that the situation is stable. This is the main thing,” Roman Golovchenko stressed.

According to him, some sectors of the economy have shown considerable progress that is unusual for periods of economic turbulence, however, a number of problems remain. The achievements include a record high export and a record low debt. “In general, economic indicators suggest that Belarus’ economy is rebounding,” the head of government stated.
