PM: Belarus-Azerbaijan trade more than doubled in January-July 2024

MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – The trade between Belarus and Azerbaijan expanded more than two times in January-July 2024 compared with the same period in 2023, Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said at an extended-participation meeting with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov on 3 October, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and Azerbaijan have built a strategic partnership based on strong friendship, mutual trust and respect. The state visit of the president of Belarus to Azerbaijan in May this year showed that our relations will grow even stronger. As a result of substantive and productive negotiations held in a cordial, friendly, fraternal atmosphere, the heads of state reached a number of practical agreements across a wide range of areas of mutual interest. Economy has always been and remains the priority of our interaction. It brings real, tangible benefits for our people. Despite the complicated processes taking place in the world, Belarus-Azerbaijan trade and economic cooperation maintains good momentum,” said Roman Golovchenko.

Bilateral trade increased by 16% in 2023 and more than doubled in January-July 2024 over the same period in 2023. “Our common task is not to lose momentum, to maintain the steady dynamics of trade. Moreover, our leaders have made our work easier by identifying specific areas we should focus on. These arrangements are aimed at further deepening trade and economic cooperation in order to bring bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level through the implementation of new joint projects, including in high-tech industries,” the prime minister emphasized.
