MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – The first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is supposed to be connected to the power grid by mid-August, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

According to the source, the first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is undergoing an audit. The turbine generator equipment is being inspected. The work proceeds in line with the standard operating procedure. Both Belarusian specialists and Russian ones are taking part in it. Once the work is done and the reasons for the activation of the automatic generator protection are removed, preparations for commissioning the first unit of the nuclear power plant will begin.

Since the equipment needs to warm up followed by a gradual increase in the reactor unit’s output, the first unit is supposed to be connected to the power grid by mid-August.
