Plans to establish Belarusian-Angolan commission on trade, economic cooperation

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Angola will set up a joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. This agreement was signed during the meeting between Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and his Angolan counterpart Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti winding up his official visit to Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vladimir Makei and Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti summed up the results of the visit and thrashed out the plan of action on bolstering political, trade, and economic cooperation. The sides reached an agreement on the early establishment of a joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic partnership to hold the first session later in 2017, the press service said.

The construction of a plant to assemble Belarus tractors in Angola was defined as a key promising prospect in industrial cooperation. The sides also agreed to promote mutual trade and the supplies of Belarus’ quarry equipment, trucks, and other products to Angola.

Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti thanked the Belarusian side for the warm welcome and the eventful program of stay offered to the Angolan delegation. The results of the meetings and talks held in Minsk encouraged him to commend the prospects of Belarus-Angola cooperation.

The Belarusian and Angolan foreign ministers agreed to resume the dialogue in Luanda during Vladimir Makei’s return visit to Angola.
