MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – It is necessary to divert Belarusian export from the Ukrainian market as much as possible, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko at a session of the Council of Ministers’ Presidium on 2 March.
Roman Golovchenko said: “Due to the current situation in Ukraine it is necessary to reorient our export away from Ukraine as much as possible. I hope to God everything will calm down there fast and people will resume normal lives. But for now the situation is what it is, this is why we are going to divert our export from Ukraine.”
In his words, in 2021 Belarus’ export to Ukraine was close to $5.5 billion or 13% of the country’s total export. According to calculations of the Economy Ministry, Russia and China can take these volumes - $1.9 billion and $1.7 billion respectively. The prime minister instructed the Economy Ministry to inform the industries about the product choice and the volumes, which are supposed to be diverted away from Ukraine.
