GRODNO, 18 February (BelTA) – There are plans to set up a Turkish industrial zone in FEZ Grodnoinvest, Deputy Head of the FEZ Administration Dmitry Rozhkov said during a visit of a delegation of the Turkish-Belarusian Council of Business Cooperation to Grodno Oblast on 18 February, BelTA has learned.
“Four agreements have been already signed with Turkish businessmen. For a Turkish industrial zone we are ready to allocate land plots with the total area of over 300 hectares with necessary communications and a well-developed transport infrastructure. Land plots are available in Grodno, Lida and Smorgon,” noted Dmitry Rozhkov.
In his words, a number of promising industrial and tourism projects are in the pipeline.
According to Chairman of the Turkish-Belarusian Council of Business Cooperation Sefa Gemdeniz, the information on the investment and industrial potential of the oblast gathered during the visit will help draw an action plan for 2016-2017. He stressed the Turkish businessmen are interested in developing cooperation with Belarusian regions in various areas, from production to tourism.
In the last three years Turkish business has stepped up in Grodno Oblast. In Ostrovets a Turkish company is building a hotel and a roadside service facility. A joint Belarusian-Turkish enterprise producing parts for car radiators will come on stream in Volkovysk later this year. Belarus did not produce such parts before and imported them from abroad.
On 18 February the Turkish delegation got familiar with the investment potential of Grodno Oblast and FEZ Grodnoinvest.
