MOSCOW, 1 June (BelTA) – Russian nuclear industry specialists speak highly of the level of training and professional skills of Belarusian designers, BelTA learned from Sergei Onufriyenko, Director of the Russian company Atomproekt, during the 7th international forum Atomexpo 2015 in Moscow on 1 June.
“We constantly cooperate with Belarusian colleagues in sharing the best design practices and our cooperation is based on terms of equality. We often welcome representatives of the United Energy and Nuclear Research Institute Sosny of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. I would like to note that Belarusian specialists always ask reasonable questions and even give valuable recommendations to improve the design. And we always bear them in mind,” noted Sergei Onufriyenko.
The Atomproekt Director underlined that modern Russian nuclear power plants are very reliable and take into account cutting-edge practices of the nuclear industry. “Power-generating units like those the Belarusian nuclear power plant will get have already been successfully used in practice. While designing any power plant, Rosatom very carefully chooses the site, evaluates probable emergencies in the region including natural and man-caused ones. The fact that a nuclear power plant using a Russian design may be built in Finland, a country that practices rigorous safety requirements and always observes them, is very remarkable. It is a very good school,” he added.
