Over half of Vitebsk Oblast-made innovative products bound for export

ORSHA, 17 November (BelTA) – Vitebsk Oblast-based industrial companies sell abroad over 50% of the innovative products they make, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Oleg Matskevich noted at the plenary session of the forum on innovative entrepreneurship in Orsha on 17 November, BelTA has learned.

According to Oleg Matskevich, innovative products account for nearly 30% of the sales of Vitebsk Oblast industrial companies. This figure is one of the highest in Belarus. As much as 54% of Vitebsk Oblast-made innovative products are exported, which means that they are in demand abroad, too.

Oleg Matskevich named some advantages of the oblast’s innovative potential, namely highly educated workers engaged in innovative activity, large volumes of innovative products exported, and plenty of higher education institutions and organizations carrying out scientific research.

“One of the main goals is to intensify the science-industry interaction to map out promising projects aimed at using the technologies of the sixth wave of innovation,” Oleg Matskevich underlined.

He expressed confidence that the current forum will become a good venue for most participants to present their ideas and will draw the attention of potential partners to cooperation.
