MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – Belarus has cropped 97.5% of area under crops, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 5 September, over 98% of the area under grain and leguminous crops and more than 94% of the area under rapeseed was cleared in Belarus.
A total of 7,058,000 tonnes of grain was cropped. This includes 6,091,000 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and over 967,000 tonnes of rapeseed.
Belarusian agricultural workers continue harvesting cereal crops: some 11,600 tonnes of buckwheat and 8,450 tonnes of millet have been cropped. The flax straw harvest has exceeded 67,000 tonnes. Cereal and legume straws have been harvested from 70.5% of the area.
Belarusian agricultural workers are harvesting potatoes. Some 58,300 tonnes of potatoes have already been removed from fields. The yield is 367.7 centners per hectare. Some 2,695,000 tonnes of corn for silage have been cropped so far.
Belarusian farmers have also embarked on harvesting sugar beet, with 99,000 tonnes cropped already. The yield is 468.3 centners per hectare.
