MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Over 6.8 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, have been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 26 August, 94% of the area under grain and leguminous crops and about 90% of the area under rapeseed was cleared in Belarus. A total of 6,865,000 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, was cropped. This includes 5,927,000 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and about 940,000 tonnes of rapeseed. Brest Oblast has concluded the harvesting of grain and leguminous crops. Minsk Oblast and Grodno Oblast are on the home stretch.
All regions in Belarus have completed flax pulling. The flax straw harvest reached about 44,000 tonnes.
Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 59% of the area. Primary tillage was conducted on 15% of the cleared area.
Winter rapeseed for grain was sown on 97% of the area. Minsk Oblast, Brest Oblast, Vitebsk Oblast, Gomel Oblast and Mogilev Oblast have completed winter rapeseed planting.
Belarusian agricultural workers have also got down to harvesting potatoes. The yield is 354 centners per hectare. Some 649,000 tonnes of corn for silage have been cropped so far.
