MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested 680,600 tonnes of potatoes. The yields average 352.2 centners per hectare, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 12 October, some 8,395,900 tonnes of grain crops and rapeseed were cropped in Belarus. This included 7,355,100 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops as well as corn.
Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast and Minsk Oblast have completed sowing winter crops. Across the country winter grain crops have been sown on 1,419,600 hectares of land (92.3% of the plan).
Harvesting of corn kernels is underway in all the oblasts of the country, with 122,200 hectares of land already cleared. Some 988,100 tonnes of corn kernels were threshed, with the yields averaging 80.8 centners per hectare. Some 19,261,000 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.
Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Minsk Oblast, Gomel Oblast and Mogilev Oblast have completed buckwheat harvesting: 51,300 tonnes of buckwheat (yields are 14.5 centners per hectare) were threshed.
Sugar beet harvesting is also in progress in Belarus. Some 2,179,100 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields standing at 456.5 centners per hectare.
