Over 4.2m tonnes of grain and rapeseed threshed in Belarus

MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) –  Over 4.2 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 26 July, 4.279 million tonnes of grain (including rapeseed) was harvested, which includes 3.28 million tonnes of cereals and leguminous crops and 999,000 tonnes of winter rapeseed.

Gomel Oblast and Brest Oblast completed harvesting winter rapeseed.  The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast harvested 1.080 million tonnes of grain (including rapeseed), Brest Oblast -1.061 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast - 981,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast - 470,000 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast  - 421,000 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast - 265,700 tonnes.

As to other crops, 72% of spring barley was harvested, 56% of winter rye, 40.7% of wheat, 31.6% of triticale, 26.3% of legumes, and 28.1% of oats. All oblasts have completed harvesting winter barley.

Meanwhile, flax was pulled from 28,200 hectares, which is 63% of the area under this crop.

Grain and legumes straw was collected from 44.1% of cut fields.

A total of 3,365,700 tonnes of grass fodder  have been harvested (34.3% of the plan).

Farmers are stepping up efforts to apply organic fertilizers. All in all, 11.8 million tonnes of fertilizers were placed on the fields in the run-up to sowing winter crops, 2.08 million tonnes of fertilizers have already been applied.
