MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Over 400 scientists and experts are taking part in a Belarusian-Chinese science and technology forum, the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) told BelTA.
The Belarusian-Chinese science and technology forum 2017 opened in Minsk on 22 May. Participants of the forum are expected to discuss promising avenues and mechanisms of development of Belarusian-Chinese science and technology cooperation as part of the efforts to implement the One Belt, One Road initiative. Over 400 scientists, experts, and specialists from Belarus and China turned up for the forum.
Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted that the forum is a result of the recent invigoration of the activities pursued by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in association with partners from the People’s Republic of China. “During the forum we are going to discuss a number of most important avenues and mechanisms, which will serve further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Belarusian and Chinese organizations. We are going to discuss the advancement of manufacturing cooperation in the area of new materials and technologies, energy saving technologies, food industry, agriculture, civil engineering technologies, and other ones. Belarusian and Chinese organizations have picked out these areas as priority ones for the consequent implementation of joint R&D projects,” he stated.
The Belarusian-Chinese science and technology forum will become an important stage in the advancement of scientific and innovative cooperation between Belarus and China. It will make possible the formation of new mutually beneficial programs and projects in cutting-edge areas of science and technology. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus believes cooperation with China is particularly important since China is a country with a huge scientific and economic potential. Belarus and China have developed solid strategic relations across the board, including in science and technology. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has signed a number of documents with Chinese partners for the sake of fruitful interaction. Joint R&D centers and centers for transferring technologies of Belarusian and Chinese scientific organizations operate well, reminded Vladimir Gusakov.
The Belarusian-Chinese science and technology forum 2017 took place at premises of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on 22 May. The event was organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the administration of the Chinese city of Harbin, the Harbin office for science and technology, the national center for technology transfer of Belarus, the Heilongjiang Province academy of sciences. There are plans to hold the next forum in Harbin.
