Over 30 countries to partake in Belarusian defense technology expo MILEX 2017

Sergei Gurulev, Chairman of the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Over 30 countries will be represented during the Belarusian defense technology expo MILEX 2017, BelTA learned from Sergei Gurulev, Chairman of the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus.

According to the source, over 30 countries will send over 50 delegations. The largest ones will come from the Russian Federation and China. Companies from Germany and Slovakia will take part in the expo for the first time. Poland will also be represented during the expo.

MILEX is a convenient venue for Belarusian defense industries where they can implement promising projects and reach new technological heights. Nearly 80 Belarusian enterprises and education institutions intend to showcase their products during the expo. R&D products will be put on display by organizations and education institutions of the Defense Ministry, the State Border Committee of Belarus, the Emergencies Ministry, and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB).

Enterprises run by the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus will showcase for the first time about 90 samples of weapons, military and special hardware. The choice includes mobility solutions, radio location systems, radio warfare systems, and means of destruction.

According to Sergei Gurulev, it is particularly important that a full cycle — from development to manufacturing and sales — is now used with regard to many products and areas.

Asked how Belarus manages to remain a regional weapons manufacturer, the official noted: “We have not lost our potential. The potential of the Soviet Union has allowed training new people and entire teams, who rely on the vast experience of previous generations, and, most importantly, take a live interest in the international experience in the area of defense technologies.” Belarus is also renowned for its information technologies, software, control solutions, and radio electronics.

The official opening ceremony will take place in the Minsk One airport on 20 May. It will become kind of a preface for the MILEX 2017 expo. Spectators will be able to enjoy a magnificent show on the ground and in the air. The Minsk Arena sports facility will be the main venue for the expo. According to Sergei Gurulev, MILEX is a serious military, political, and economic event in the country’s life. The organizers have done their best to demonstrate advances of the Belarusian defense industry.
