Over 2.6m tonnes of grain, rapeseed harvested in Belarus

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) - Over 2.6 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been cropped in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 20 July, 2.62 million tonnes of grain (including rapeseed) was harvested, which includes 1.822 million tonnes of cereals and leguminous crops and 798,000 tonnes of winter rapeseed.

Gomel Oblast and Brest Oblast are finishing harvesting winter rapeseed (99.3% and 97.2% respectively).

The regional breakdown is the following: Brest Oblast harvested 718,600 tonnes of grain (including rapeseed), Minsk Oblast 626,000 tonnes, Grodno Oblast 602,500 tonnes, Gomel Oblast 324,200 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast 236,200 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast 112,600 tonnes.

As to other crops, Belarusian farmers have already cropped 59.2% of spring barley, 29.5% of winter rye, 15.2% of wheat, 13.3% of triticale, 10.7% of legumes, and 4.9% of oats. All oblasts have completed harvesting winter barley.

Meanwhile, flax was pulled from 19,300 hectares, which is 43.1% of the area under this crop.

Over 3.23 million tonnes of grass feed was harvested (32.9% of the plan).

Farmers are stepping up efforts to apply organic fertilizers. All in all, 11.5 million tonnes of fertilizers (88.8% of the target) were placed on the fields in the run-up to sowing winter crops, 1.93 million tonnes (14.9%) of fertilizers have already been applied.
