MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Belarusian products are competitive on the Russian market, Governor of Russia’s Orel Oblast Vadim Potomsky said as he met with Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats on 24 March, BelTA has learned.
“Belarusian products are in demand in Orel Oblast. All goods from Belarus are competitive, first of all in terms of quality,” Vadim Potomsky stressed.
He added that people in Orel Oblast and other regions of Russia actively buy products made in Belarus. “Belarusian goods draw queues as their price is also very competitive,” the Governor pointed out.
In 2015, the trade between Belarus and Orel Oblast totaled $92.2 million. Exports stood at $59.6 million with imports at $32.6 million. The year saw an increase in exports of beef (by 38%), canned fruit and vegetables (51%), apples, pears and quinces (111%), potatoes (156%), electric motors and generators (9%), plastic and plastic goods (20.7%). Besides, in 2015 Belarus started to export livestock to Russia’s Orel Oblast.
