Ogorodnikov: Belarus-Zimbabwe projects in industry are in full swing

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – Cooperation projects between enterprises affiliated with the Industry Ministry of Belarus and partners from Zimbabwe are in full swing, Belarusian First Deputy Industry Minister Aleksandr Ogorodnikov said as he met with Permanent Secretary of Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce Dr. Mavis Sibanda, BelTA learned from the press service of the Industry Ministry.
The press service recalled that a package of cooperation documents in manufacturing was signed at the Belarus-Zimbabwe business forum in Harare during the state visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in January 2023.
Aleksandr Ogorodnikov took stock of the progress to implement the third phase of the Zimbabwean agricultural mechanization program, where Belarus acts as an agricultural equipment supplier, explored the possibilities to supply quarry equipment to Zimbabwe. Another significant joint project is the supply of fire trucks. Construction and upgrade of warehouses for grain crops is another promising avenue of cooperation. Aleksandr Ogorodnikov noted that Zimbabwe can count on Belarus’ assistance with the implementation of such projects.
The first deputy minister expressed confidence that cooperation with the Republic of Zimbabwe holds a lot of promise for enterprises of the Industry Ministry.
Dr. Mavis Sibanda believes that everything is in place to expand mutually beneficial cooperation. According to the permanent secretary, Belarus-made agricultural machinery is very popular with African consumers and has made a name for itself in Africa.
During the meeting, Dr. Mavis Sibanda suggested that Belarus should also consider the possibility of joint ventures and investment in a number of industries. “The people of Zimbabwe are very positive about our cooperation. Therefore, we are ready to work in all areas that can bring mutual benefits,” Dr. Mavis Sibanda said.
