MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – The number of companies residing in free economic zones (FEZ) increased by 10% in 2022, the Belarusian Economy Ministry press service told BelTA.

As many as 53 new resident companies were registered with free economic zones, the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, and the special economic zone Bremino-Orsha in 2022. The total volume of declared investments is $260 million. There are plans to create about 2,700 jobs.

The investors intend to realize business initiatives in woodworking and metalworking, chemical industry, logistics, pharmaceutics, healthcare, machine building, and agriculture. The largest projects include the construction of a transportation and logistics hub in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, the construction of a container terminal in Svisloch District, the establishment of a greenhouse farming enterprise in Brest District, and the establishment of an enterprise to make wood fuel granules in Polotsk.

The creation of the necessary engineering and transport infrastructure continues in order to bolster the investment appeal of Belarusian FEZs. Three major energy infrastructure installations were commissioned in 2022. The construction of another six is supposed to be finished in 2023.
