MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – Nigeria is interested in cooperation with Belarus in the area of mechanical engineering, BelTA learned from Desmond Nwosu, First Secretary of the Embassy of Nigeria in Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus, on 21 September.
Desmond Nwosu said: “It is at least my third visit to Belarus. We’ve seen the Belagro expo. We’ve held negotiations with the tractor maker MTZ. Today my goal is to talk to Belarusian businessmen and find contact points. We are interested in the sphere of mechanical engineering. We intend to continue negotiations with MTZ. A Nigerian company has already signed a memorandum of cooperation with this Belarusian company. The purpose of the memorandum is to create an enterprise to assemble Belarusian tractors in Nigeria.”
Heads of Belarusian companies are meeting in Minsk today with trade counsellors of the diplomatic missions accredited in Belarus. The event is timed to the Commercial Counsellor Day, which is organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry every year. The diplomats are expected to get familiar with the operation of Belarus’ first full-cycle car manufacturing factory.
