New window of opportunities opens for export of Belarusian products to China

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – A new window of opportunities opens for the export of Belarusian products to China, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said on 4 May at the meeting with the representatives of Chinese central and regional mass media partaking in the press tour to Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“A new window of opportunities opens for the export of Belarusian products to China today,” Alexander Lukashenko said. The parties discuss a considerable difference in the volumes of Belarusian export to the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese import to Belarus. According to the president, the Chinese side is interested in the diversification of the trade and economic relations in a way to remove the imbalance.

The head of state reminded that Belarus has already started to export meat and dairy products to the Chinese market, and they sell well thanks to their high quality.

The meeting also focused on the prospects of interregional cooperation. In particular, speaking about the development of contacts between Heilongjiang Province and its administrative center Harbin and Vitebsk Oblast, the head of state noted that the Belarusian side is interested in closer relations. This pertains to the penetration of the Chinese market by Belarusian manufacturers, the establishment of joint ventures.

The participants of the meeting also discussed Belarus’ participation in the Silk Road Economic Belt initiative and the project to build the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park which is one of its key hubs. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the park will make a contribution to the development of the Belarusian economy and will help almost double the gross domestic product in the future.
