MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) – Cooperation with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) opens up new opportunities for financing the infrastructure, BelTA learned from representatives of the Belarusian Economy Ministry after Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi met with an AIIB delegation led by President Jin Liqun.
The sides discussed promising infrastructure projects, including those designed to develop Belarus’ transport complex and expand infrastructure in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. Other priority avenues of possible cooperation between Belarus and the AIIB were also mentioned.
While in Belarus the AIIB president is expected to have a number of meetings, visit the largest banks and the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone.
Belarus joined the AIIB as a non-regional member in 2019. Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi is the governor representing the country. Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich is his deputy.
Economy Ministry representatives told BelTA that Belarus’ interaction with the AIIB will enhance the operation of the development institutions, which already work in the country, such as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, and the Eurasian Development Bank.
