Negotiations on setting up Turkish industrial zone in Mogilev to continue in May

MOGILEV, 16 February (BelTA) - Negotiations on the establishment of a Turkish industrial zone in Mogilev will continue in May, the head of the administration of the Free Economic Zone Mogilev Andrei Yartsev said as he met with a delegation of the Turkish-Belarusian Business Cooperation Council at the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey, BelTA has learned.

The FEZ Mogilev will host representatives of Turkish industrial enterprises in May 2016. The visit has been organized jointly with KOSGEB, the Turkish organization for support of small and medium-sized business, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Turkey. "One of the main topics of the talks will be the development of a cluster of manufacturers of automotive components and a Turkish industrial zone in the FEZ Mogilev. We have compiled a list of large Turkish companies - potential investors, including Coskunoz Holding (production of stamped parts for vehicles), Sisecam Group (the production of flat and automotive glass), Dizayn Teknik Boru ve Elemanlarэ San. ve Tic A.S. (production of polymer pipes),” Andrei Yartsev noted.

According to him, the FEZ Mogilev carefully studies the experience of similar Turkish industrial zones. Work is underway to develop cooperation with the Aegean Free Zone. An agreement was reached to conclude a memorandum of understanding between the two FEZs. Its draft has been sent to the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in Istanbul and the Aegean Free Zone for harmonization.

Chairman of the Turkish-Belarusian Council of Business Cooperation Sefa Gemdeniz expressed interest in the implementation of the project on setting up a cluster of automotive components producers and a Turkish industrial zone in the FEZ Mogilev. “We are interested in assisting the development of interregional relations between Belarus and Turkey in trade, economic, investment and social areas. We will use the experience of the Council for Foreign Economic Relations to the maximum here,” said Sefa Gemdeniz.

Mogilev Oblast Vice Governor Dmitry Kharitonchik drew the attention of the Turkish delegation to such potentially important investment areas of cooperation as mechanical engineering, chemical industry, agriculture and woodworking. In his words, friendly relations between Belarus and Turkey can also be promoted by cooperation and close contacts in education, science and culture. “We would also like to pay more attention to tourism. Today we offer a great opportunity for our Turkish guests to have a holiday in rural farmsteads and health resorts of Mogilev Oblast,” said Dmitry Kharitonchik.

While in Belarus, the Turkish delegation is expected to get familiar with the investment potential of the FEZ Mogilev, visit the FEZ Mogilev resident companies set up with the participation of the Turkish capital.
