MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Early spring grain and leguminous crops have been sown on an area of 34,700 hectares in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

Early spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat and millet) were sown on an area of 34,700 hectares, which is 5.57% of the plan. The regional breakdown is the following: crops were sown on an area of 20,700 hectares in Brest Oblast, 420 hectares in Vitebsk Oblast, 3,590 hectares in Gomel Oblast, 7,490 hectares in Grodno Oblast, 2,080 hectares in Minsk Oblast, and 470 hectares in Mogilev Oblast.

Soil plowing was done on 216,800 hectares, which is 28.4% of the plan. 124,900 hectares of land was prepared for sowing early spring crops, which is 20% of the plan. Fertilizing is also underway: winter grains were fertilized on an area of 875,300 hectares (57.3% of the plan), cruciferous crops for grain on an area of 207,800 hectares (48.4% of the plan), perennial grasses on arable land on an area of 94,400 hectares (10.23% of the plan), and improved grasslands on an area of 142,800 hectares (11.3% of the plan).
