MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – In an interview with BelTA Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich urged to continue coordinating efforts to protect the interests of agricultural producers from Belarus and Russia.
Speaking about the prospects of Belarus-Russia cooperation in the agricultural industry, Mikhail Myasnikovich noted that in the future the two countries should work together to meet the needs of the common agricultural market and boost the export of agricultural products and foodstuffs. “With this in mind, our countries should continue coordinating their actions to protect the interests of agricultural producers and agree on specific steps to maintain veterinary and phytosanitary control based on single requirements and rules,” he believes.
All these matters will be discussed at the forthcoming 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia that will take place in Mogilev on 10-12 October. The agenda of the forum also includes efforts to support agricultural education and science, development of social infrastructure and improvement of living standards in rural communities. The participants of the forum will discuss innovative solutions in cattle breeding and establishment of single specialized breeding and genetic centers.
