PINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – Belarus hopes to increase its export to regions of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich told journalists during his working visit to Pinsk on 1 September, BelTA has learned.
The Russian city of Sochi will be hosting the Second Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions on 17-18 September. Belarusian enterprises will present their best products including food, technologies, and scientific solutions. “Apart from regional agreements, we also have plans to sign trade contracts for at least $100 million. For example, Novosibirsk Oblast of Russia shows interest in products of our Pinsk-based company Polesye. Knitted outwear is in demand there,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.
He also said that Belarusian light industry, as well as meat and dairy industries will be represented in Sochi mostly by Brest Oblast enterprises. Mikhail Myasnikovich emphasized that the forum will give an additional impetus to the development of interregional cooperation. “We have somewhat 'rebooted' the concept of this cooperation. First of all, interregional cooperation should mean close trade ties and establishment of joint ventures. We should set up prototypes of transnational corporations within the framework of Belarus-Russia cooperation. This creates preconditions for integration,” Mikhail Myasnikovich believes.
The forum will gather around 400 participants from Belarus and Russia. It has been organized by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.
