MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – A delegation of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna visited Finland on 13-14 June, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.
The head of the Belarusian delegation met with Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs Timo Soini. The sides discussed the state and prospects of advancing Belarusian-Finnish relations as well as Belarus’ interaction with the European Union and interaction within the framework of international organizations.
Consultations between the Belarusian and Finnish ministries of foreign affairs were arranged as part of the visit. The sides discussed a large number of items on the bilateral agenda concerning political, trade, economic, humanitarian spheres and other areas.
Participants of the consultations mentioned the mutual interest of Belarus and Finland in expanding trade contacts and implementing joint projects, including with access to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna met with Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the Parliament of Finland Antti Kaikkonen. The sides discussed a large number of matters concerning the dynamics and prospects of developing Belarus-Finland relations, relations with neighboring countries and the European Union, including the Eastern Partnership Initiative. The advancement of interparliamentary cooperation was mentioned as well.
