MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – MPs need to maximize efforts to strengthen the economic positions of the Union State, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said during the 50th session of the Parliamentary Assembly, BelTA has learned.
“In general, we need to maximize efforts to achieve the goals to strengthen the economic positions of the Union State, to ensure real sovereignty of the two countries, promote national and Union State interests in the international arena,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
According to him, more efforts should be poured to promote regional cooperation. “The 3rd Forum of Regions, which was recently held in Minsk, has once again demonstrated the effectiveness of direct ties in industry, culture and other areas. At a time when global competition gets very tough, such cooperation is a must,” the Speaker said.
Vladimir Andreichenko believes that the Union State MPs should pay more attention to the implementation of a coherent industrial policy, the creation of equal conditions for economic entities, establishing common tariffs for energy, so much so that not all is smooth in these matters, he said.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives also expressed the view that the objectives of the Union State should be considered in conjunction with the goals of the Eurasian Economic Union, free trade zones with the countries of South-East Asia. “Particular attention should be given to the development of strategic cooperation with the People's Republic of China and implementation of large joint infrastructure projects. All this means gradual implementation of the idea of ‘integration of integrations’. The MPs can contribute to the formulation of a roadmap of the project,” the Speaker added.
