MOGILEV, 23 January (BelTA) – In 2019, Mogilev Railway Car Building Works (MVZ) plans to ship to Lithuanian Railways the first batch of 150 open wagons (model 12-6993) for industrial chips, MVZ director Vitaly Martynov informed BelTA.
These wagons were custom-made; the manufacturer met all requirements and terms of the Lithuanian party. The product has been tested and is being certified at the Russian Register of Certification on the Federal Railway Transport. The bearing capacity of the wagon is 66 tons and it is suited for transporting timber freight and automobile tires by railway at the speed of 120 km/h.
“The new type if wagon is in demand in the CIS and EAEU markets so we are launching a separate manufacture line for new rolling stock models,” Vitaly Martynov said.
According to him, the cooperation agreement with Lithuanian Railways was signed in early January 2019. “This is a new market for us and we hope that our cooperation will be long and effective,” Vitaly Martynov noted. “Lithuania needs around 1,500 freight wagons of various types. We are ready to supply them within a three-year period.”
In 2019, the enterprise plans to produce 1,500 freight wagons, expanding its output by around 50%. More than half of the output is for the domestic market; some 30% of products are exported to Russia, Ukraine and Lithuania.
