Mogilev Oblast, Jiangsu Province of China to sign twinning agreement

MOGILEV, 7 May (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast of Belarus and Jiangsu Province of China are set to sign a twinning agreement during the Belarus-China interregional business forum on 11 May, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Economy Committee of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Ruslan Strakhar.

“Mogilev Oblast pays special attention to the development of cooperation with Chinese regions on the basis of friendship and mutual understanding. Today the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee and the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government coordinate their activities within the framework of a memorandum of friendly cooperation. The new document will show that the interregional relations have risen to a higher level,” Ruslan Strakhar noted.

He said that the Chinese delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government Zhang Lei will visit Mogilev Oblast on 9 May. The Chinese guests will take part in a business matchmaking session and will hold negotiations with Mogilev Oblast businessmen. The program of the visit also includes a meeting between Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Domanevsky and Zhang Lei.

China's share in Mogilev Oblast’s foreign trade with non-CIS countries amounted to 5.8% in January-February 2015, which makes up $6.1 million in money terms. The Belarusian region is actively working to develop investment cooperation with China. For example, two large-scale projects were implemented using the loans from the Export-Import Bank of China. The first project was to construct an all-dry cement production line at the Belarusian Cement Plant, and the second - to build a technological line of cement production with the capacity 1.8 million tonnes per year in the area of the deposit Kamenka of the enterprise Krichevtsementnoshifer. Chinese and Mogilev Oblast companies currently implement a number of cooperation agreements. Besides, the People's Republic of China and Mogilev Oblast of Belarus actively strengthen their cultural, educational, and agricultural ties.
