Mogilev Meat Packing Plant sends first batch of beef to China

MOGILEV, 29 January (BelTA) – Mogilev Meat Packing Plant has sent the first batch of beef to China, BelTA learned from the company’s director Vladimir Latygovsky.

“The first batch of frozen meat was shipped to China on 27 January. The meat was carved and packed in line with the Chinese requirements. The products are expected to hit the Chinese store shelves at the end of this week or in the beginning of the next one. When we know the demand for our meat and the results of the quality compliance assessment, we will understand the prospects for cooperation and will start working on the logistics of further supplies,” Vladimir Latygovsky remarked.

Although the project co-implemented with China holds great promise, it requires additional investments in increasing the supply of raw materials. This is what the company is doing at the moment, the official said. The plant is developing beef cattle farms in Krichev District, Slavgorod District, and Khotimsk District.

“The negotiations took over a year. In accordance with the agreements we reached, the Chinese partners are ready to buy large amounts of beef. We also hope to start exporting sausages in the future, since many companies have showed interest in these products. The negotiations on this matter continue, just like our study of the Chinese market. The most important thing, however, is to agree on the price,” Vladimir Latygovsky said.

Founded in 1905, Mogilev Meat Packing Plant is one of the largest meat manufacturers in Belarus. The company sells over 300 meat products, including sausages, pork and poultry, by-products, semi-finished goods, and dumplings.
