MOGILEV, 15 June (BelTA) - Mogilev Meat Packing Plant has launched commercial supplies of beef cuts to China, BelTA learned from director of the plant Vladimir Latygovsky.
“We have already supplied more than $130,000 worth of frozen meat to China. At the end of June we will send a new batch of products cut and packaged according to the requirements of the Chinese partners. Upon arrival in China our products will be immediately sent to retail networks,” he said.
The plant has signed a $10 million contract to supply meat products to China in 2018. “The plans are big. The joint project is promising. It requires additional investment in the expansion of the resource base. This is what we are currently working on. We are breeding beef cattle in Krichev, Slavgorod and Khotimsk districts of Mogilev Oblast,” Vladimir Latygovsky said.
According to him, the company will host a delegation of its main partner from the city of Nanjing (China) in July to discuss investing in the development of beef cattle in Mogilev Oblast and the prospects for further cooperation, including increasing exports of meat products.
“According to the agreements, the partners from China are ready to import large amounts of beef. In order to satisfy the demand we need to significantly increase beef herds, upgrade a meat packing shop and increase its capacity. We also expect to start exporting, in the long term, our sausage products as many companies have shown interest in these products. We continue holding negotiations and exploring the Chinese market. It is important that the supply logistics has been established. Now the main thing is to agree on the price,” Vladimir Latygovsky said.
Established in 1905, Mogilev Meat Packing Plant has grown into one of Belarus’ biggest meat producers. It manufactures more than 300 titles of meat products: cold cuts, pork and poultry products, offal, semi-finished meat products, pelmeni and many more.
